No, I don't mean my memory after a night out. It was August since I last posted on this site, my laziness and forgetfulness know no bounds. On the upside, the bike is just about done. Got a lot of work done over Christmas, since I was away for 2 months between August and Christmas. One excuse for not posting anything here, I guess.
The aside, all that is basically left to do on the bike is as follows:
-Complete tuning of the carbies (more to come on that one...)
-Fixing the oil leak in the sump plug
-New tyres to be fitted
-Tank, seat cowl, and sidecover badges to be painted + bought
-Registering and riding (the fun part)
Thing is, I'm trying desperately to get the damn thing running right, and it's been doing nothing but resist me. I'm having a terrible time trying to get a decent idle out of the thing, the revs are picking up by themselves when the idle is adjusted to a runnable level, but when the idle is decreased, it stalls since it's so low. For starters, I don't have a vacuum gauge or manometer set to do the synchronisation with, which has really put me behind the eight ball from the start. I think I know someone who has a set, might go see them this weekend. The idle mixture screws might be giving me a problem too, they seem to have buggered tips on them. Not snapped off, luckily, but deformed and bent sort of. I think they might have been put in a bit tight at one stage. Well, some photos are attached. (Whichever photos I could find, I was a bit slack in the photo taking department as of late...)
